SPLIT ROCK RESORT- JAN 9th, 2010 FLOWRIDER COMPETITION

H20ooohh Indoor Waterpark set the date for it’s 1st Annual Winter FLOW Competition, “Flow ‘n Snow in the Poconos”.
Split Rock Resort, scheduled to be included on the 2010 Wave Loch FLOW Series Tour this summer, scheduled Pennsylvania’s first indoor winter competition for Saturday, January 9, 2010.LAKE HARMONY, PA (December 02, 2009) – In October of 2008, a new 53,000-square-foot indoor Waterpark named H2Oooohh made a big splash when it opened at Split Rock Resort. The $19 million Waterpark features a FlowRider, nicknamed the Komodo Dragon. This exciting ride is actually an indoor surf simulator for boogie boarding and board surfing.
Competitions are now held around the globe for both professional and amateur riders in the Wave Loch FLOW Series. Split Rock was recently added to the schedule for the 2010 Series which begins this upcoming May. Last year’s Series ended in August at Waterville USA in Gulf Shores Alabama, followed by the 2009 International Flow Championships held on October 16th at Wave House Sentosa in Singapore. The USA team captured 2nd place behind the South Africa team who placed 1st in the competition.
Split Rock’s competition is aimed at keeping the interest in this new sport active all winter in the Northeast. Another competition is tentatively scheduled for March, 2010. Winners will be competing for a minimum $600 cash purse, with more prize money possible pending the total number of competitor registrants. Registration fee for professional riders is $35 plus $15 for adding an extra division; and amateur registration is $25 plus $15 for an extra division. Practice sessions will be available Fri, Jan. 8th after 8pm, and Sat, Jan 9th starting at 8am. Competition is tentatively scheduled for 10am to 6pm on the 9th. Special reduced room rates will be available for all registered competitors.
Split Rock’s Flowrider is a single, which is one of the smaller of it’s size; but is found to be challenging by competitors because of the tight space of the ride surface. The judging criteria used for the Wave Loch FLOW Series will be in use for this competition; judging difficulty, variety, execution and overall impression. Individuals interested in registering for the competition are encouraged to file registration forms early. Registration forms will be available online by Friday, December 4, 2009 at www.splitrockresort.com . Forms can be obtained by calling Luke Borowy at 570-722-9111, ext. 789. Payment by credit card will be accepted, or checks accompanied with registration forms up until 12/31/09. After that date, only cash (in person), credit card or money order/cashiers check will be acceptable forms of payment.
